I had the wonderful experience of hiking the Milford Track earlier in the year, and would highly recommend it to anyone with a love of the outdoors, a moderate level of fitness and a sense of adventure. The hike can be broken into three segments: Following the Clinton River from the northern end of Lake Te Anau, crossing Mackinnon Pass, and following the Arthur River to Milford Sound. The scenery is dominated by temperate rain forest, mountains sculpted by glacial activity and water features - such as those illustrated above - along both of the rivers.
